Chao Phrakhun Takia Mosque

Chao Phrakhun Takia Mosque or Takia Yokhinratchmischincha Siam Mosque is an old mosque that was built during the Ayutthaya Period. To the side is the site of a cemetery erected in an octagonal structure with a domed top, which is believed to be the resting place of Chao Phrakhun Takia Yokhin, who was a well respected Muslim in this area. The items displayed inside the mosque demonstrate the significance of this place, for instance, the lectern and the lamp were gifts from King Chulalongkorn. This is the centre of religious rites for people in the Khlong Takien Community in the South at the mouth of the Khlong Takien Canal. These local inhabitants are descendants of the Chams and the Malays and they eke out a living through fresh water fishing, making fish nets and weaving cloth
