Ayothaya Floating Market
Ayothaya Floating Market was conceived from the idea that it should be the place to reflect the way of life of the people of Ayutthaya whose lives are close to and related to rivers. The market is divided into 16 zones which are named after different districts of Ayutthaya Province. For example, Bang Sai Market sells basketry; Bang Barn Market sells desserts and souvenirs while Bang Pa-in Market features roti, desserts and souvenirs; Saena Market sells fresh prawns and baked fish and a large area, known as the Krung Sri Ayutthaya Plaza, is the venue for shows and performances. As well as a variety of foods, there is a diversity of souvenirs to buy. There are stages located around the market for the presentation of folk performances and other activities include elephant rides to visit ancient places, photo opportunities with tigers, rides in a horse-drawn carriage, driving an ATV vehicle, boating around the Floating Market and art and cultural shows in the form of Khon masked drama, traditional Thai dances, Choi and Lakhon folk music.
